Nearly a year into his second term, Americans are seeing less of Trump than before, with the tycoon having fewer public events scheduled and traveling far less domestically than when he took office in his first year in office, in 2017, although he is making more trips abroad. The New York Times wrote this by analyzing the daily schedule of the US president.

Although Trump has made physical strength and energy one of his strengths, often mocking his predecessor Joe Biden, his agenda has fewer commitments and a shorter schedule of public appearances than before as most of his public appearances average between noon and 5 p.m. The reality is more complicated: Trump, 79, is the oldest person elected president, and he’s getting older, the NYT says.

Trump’s first official event began later that day, according to The Times’ analysis of the official presidential calendar in a database maintained by Roll Call.

In 2017, the first year of his first term, Trump’s event schedule began on average at 10:31 p.m. In contrast, in his second term, the tycoon started events scheduled on average in the afternoon, at 12:08. His events ended on average around the same time as the first year of his first term, shortly after 5 p.m.
Trump’s total number of official appearances fell 39%. In 2017, Trump held 1,688 official events between January 20 and November 25 of that year. In the same period this year, Trump appeared at 1,029 official events.

And when in public, the battery sometimes shows signs of wear. Take, for example, the Oval Office event that started around noon on November 6, when Trump sat at his desk for about 20 minutes while executives stood around him talking about weight-loss drugs. At one point, Trump’s eyelids drooped until he nearly closed his eyes and he appeared to fall asleep for a few seconds.
