One week for 1,500 amendments, impossible budget schedule in the Assembly – Liberation

The decision would have gone unnoticed if questions surrounding the timetable for implementing the budget text had not made the deputies nervous. According to the constitutional deadline, they have one more week to review the final Finance Bill. After midnight, Sunday 23 November, the text will go to the Senate.

Among the deputies, no one was fooled: with more than 1,500 amendments still to be examined as of Friday evening, November 14, it would be impossible to complete the examination of the 2026 budget on time, unless the amendments are massively repealed. “If MPs don’t withdraw the amendment, it’s because they prefer
