“It must be taken into account that the appeal does not demonstrate, in the perspective of the censor of the contested sentence, the existence of all the elements of the contested crime, to be able to demonstrate the stability of the accused’s position”. These are the demands of the Attorney General’s Cassation regarding the appeal submitted by the Palermo Attorney General’s Office against the acquittal of Minister Matteo Salvini in the Open Arms case.
The decision was contained in a 46-page memorandum in which, although the request for rejection of the appeal was not made explicit, the Attorney General’s Office expressed serious doubts about the appeal submitted by the Palermo prosecutor. Prosecutors will illustrate the report at a hearing scheduled for December 11.
