Paris: a man sits on the grave of an unknown soldier and claims to be “President of the Republic”

The day after the anniversary of November 11, the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, under the Arc de Triomphe (8th arrondissement of Paris) became the scene of a most unusual incident. According to police sources, a man was sitting on the grave on Wednesday morning.

After that the person made “vague comments”, said the Paris prosecutor’s office, stating that no damage was noted. According to police sources, the 23-year-old man, who did not appear to be “living to the fullest extent of his mental capacity”, introduced himself as “President of the Republic”.

“He was taken to a mental hospital and the procedure was canceled because there was no violation,” continued the public prosecutor.

This case is reminiscent of the incident on October 9, when a woman desecrated the grave of the Unknown Soldier. At Place Charles-de-Gaulle, the 51-year-old woman struck a wreath laid in tribute to soldiers who died for France. A lawyer by profession, he was placed in police custody and his alcohol and drug test results showed positive for drugs.
