SA six-month parliamentary inquiry begins this Wednesday into one of the most embarrassing affairs for the European Commission: the funding of NGOs responsible for putting pressure on the institutions to support the Green Deal. The Committee for Budget Control (CONT) working group held its first meeting, under the chairmanship of Dutch MEP Dirk Gotink, member of the EPP (centre right).
The complaints are very serious: the Commission not only pays NGOs to lobby the European Parliament and Member States, but also funds campaigns against the trade agreement with Mercosur and, more seriously, encourages NGOs to take legal action against Member States.
