Patrons are in awe of FC BayernUli Hoeneß can hardly believe his extraordinary luck
FC Bayern is having a fantastic season. This not only pleased the fans, but also the club’s eternal patron, Uli Hoeneß. He sees coach Vincent Kompany’s team as “at its limit” at the moment.
Uli Hoeneß currently sees his FC Bayern almost reaching its limits. At the moment everyone at the German record champions is “very, very happy. I always say that when you have a team that you really like, then you can finally sit back and relax in the stands,” emphasized Munich’s honorary president on the sidelines of a club event discussing the issue of dementia.
He recently told coach Vincent Kompany, Hoeneß continued, “that before in the 80th minute you hoped the game would end quickly. And now you are in the 80th minute and you say to yourself: Hopefully they will play for a long time because it’s a lot of fun. They’re having fun, the crowd is having fun and we in the stands are having fun too – and that’s the ideal situation at the moment, how you want to imagine FC Bayern.”
Bayern, who have started the season impressively with 16 competitive match wins, lead the Bundesliga standings by six points over RB Leipzig after ten games. In the Champions League, Munich are also ahead of Wednesday’s top-flight with twelve points from four matches (9pm/DAZN and on live ticker on ntv.de) in the second Arsenal FC.
However, Hoeneß considers the question of whether there is nothing else that could pose a threat to FC Bayern “a bit overblown”. “Of course it doesn’t always work like that, sometimes there will be setbacks,” he warned, but at the same time added: “What we have played so far internationally is worthy of honor. When I look at the two big games against Chelsea and against Paris, it is extraordinary.”
So far, “almost everything the club planned in the summer has come to fruition,” praised Hoeneß and spoke about “the dream we had that we spent as little money as possible but still had a great new team.” They “don’t spend 50 million here and 60 million there”, instead relying on talents such as Lennart Karl or Tom Bischof: “That’s good for our coffers. And of course we now have a coach who is ready to bring in young players – and that’s of course fantastic.”
