In the struggle for a possible end to the war in Ukraine, representatives of the United States and the United States Ukraineto settle the final dispute. There are only a few points of contention remaining, said White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. However, after highly productive discussions between negotiating teams in Geneva at the weekend, US President Donald Trump is confident that a deal can be reached. Trump put pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian head of state Vladimir Putin.

Leavitt denies the allegations, President Trump bias in favor of Russia in the current Ukraine negotiations. “The idea that the United States is not paying equal attention to both sides in this war to end it is completely wrong,” the spokesman said.

Zelensky wants to speak with Trump privately

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he wants to speak privately with President Trump on the most sensitive issues before a final document can be produced. The 28-point plan that the US originally proposed to end Russia’s war of aggression has been reduced to fewer points. “Many of the right elements have been included in this framework,” he said Zelensky in his evening video address. “Sensitive issues, the most sensitive points, I will discuss with President Trump.”

Trump spokesman Leavitt said the US president was frustrated that the war was continuing. Trump ended America’s war funding, however United States of America still supplies or sells weapons in large quantities. “We can’t go on like this forever, and the president wants this war to end,” Leavitt said.

Russia rejected the EU’s counter-proposal

Trump’s 28-point plan was criticized by many observers as a “Russian wish list.” Ukraine and European Union countries in particular consider the plan unacceptable. Zelensky’s delegates said the plan no longer existed.

Europe’s counter-proposals, put forward by Germany, France and Britain, were met Russia on rejection. At first glance, the European plan is “completely unconstructive and unusable for us,” said the Russian government’s foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov.

After initial negotiations between the US, Ukraine and leading European countries, Chancellor Friedrich Merz reduced hopes of a quick breakthrough. “Peace in Ukraine did not happen overnight,” the CDU leader said after a special European Union summit on the Ukraine war in the Angolan capital Luanda.

Ukraine’s initial 28-point plan would have resulted in significant territorial losses for Ukraine and limited its troop strength. Therefore, Ukraine must promise not to join NATO. The plan also stipulates that Russian assets frozen in the EU will mostly benefit the US.

Russia continues to attack Ukraine with missiles and drones almost every day. According to a report from the AFP news agency, the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, was rocked by a powerful explosion on Monday evening. The Air Force issued a missile warning for the entire country via the online service Telegram. Recently, the Russian military stepped up its attacks on Ukrainian power plants as winter approaches.
