Police arrest hotel thief – damage worth 60,000 euros

Police arrested a man during an attempted burglary in Madrid. He is said to have made a small fortune by breaking into hotels across Spain.
He is also said to have carried out attacks in Mallorca: Spain’s national police arrested a man who was said to have broken into several hotel rooms. In total, the man is said to have stolen money and personal items worth around 60,000 euros. Spanish media reported this, citing the police. The case was made public on Thursday.
The man is said to be active in several popular tourist areas. Apart from Mallorca, he is also reported to have scored goals in Ibiza and Madrid.
According to reports, the arrest occurred on October 10 in the Spanish capital. The man was arrested in an attempted theft. He was said to have been arrested for a robbery in Chamberí on October 8 – although he was later released.
According to police, the man sometimes worked on a contract basis. In Ibiza he is said to have carried out eight robberies at six hotels in just two days. In order to move places quickly, he reportedly even rented a motorbike. He is said to have carried out a robbery in Palma de Mallorca between August 26 and 29.
The man’s approach is said to be always similar: at hotel receptions, the man is said to pretend to be a guest – whose key card no longer works or who has forgotten his safe PIN. He was said to have stolen everything he found in the room: cash, valuables and credit cards.
The man was detained. He was accused of 15 hotel robberies and forgery of documents.
