Radio France published a message on Tuesday 11 November correcting comments made by a France Télévisions journalist about the elected mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, during an interview on Sunday 9 November with Manuel Bompard (LFI) broadcast on France Inter and the Franceinfo television channel.
“During (broadcast) “Political Questions”, among them his deputy Manuel Bombard was the guest, questions from Alix Bouilhaguet about Zohran Mamdani prompted questions from our listeners. Radio France and France Télévisions responded”indicated the group in messages published on X and on the event’s website.
In this case “details”signed by Radio France and France Télévisions, the two media outlets again discussed several statements made by France Télévisions journalists about the new mayor of New York, who was elected on November 4, in particular regarding his position in relation to Israel and Gaza.
Both audiovisual groups mainly used one of the sentences that Alix Bouilhaguet said during the interview. He stated specifically, in reference to the new New York city council members: “When we asked him to condemn October 7, he often immediately blamed it and repeated that the problem was the Israeli occupation.” In its message, Radio France repeated it, as Manuel Bompard did during his broadcast: “We can’t say that he is”boot in touch“We can’t say he doesn’t condemn October 7, because starting in 2023 he condemns its “war crimesre”. After the broadcast was broadcast live, LFI on Monday indicated that it would contact Arcom, the audiovisual regulator. “On several occasions during this interview, the journalist made false statements that were based on fact”wrote the political party in a public letter.
Responding to messages from Radio France and France Télévisions, Manuel Bompard predicted on Tuesday “France Inter and France Télévisions admit that the question asked was wrong”After “2 days of silence”. “But (they) did not announce any concrete decisions in the face of this apparent disinformation”complained the representative of Bouches-du-Rhône.
