Raquel Pascual, of EL PAÍS and CincoDías, receives the award for best economic journalist from the Institute of Economic Studies | Economy

The director of the Economy section of EL PAÍS Raquel Pascual Cortés was awarded the IEE Award for best economic journalist, awarded by the Institute of Economic Studies, in its 2025 edition. The ruling was made official on Wednesday in a statement released by the analysis service of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE).

Pascual Cortés, graduated in Information Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid, began his professional career in the newspaper Soria 7 days and in the Europa Press agency. For the last 25 years he has covered information on employment, social security, pensions and labor relations CinqueGiornifirst of all, and also for EL PAÍS. During this period he was tasked with covering various labor and pension reforms; as well as numerous general strikes.

In addition to his extensive journalistic activity, unanimously recognized in the sector and for which he has received awards such as the Unespa Life Insurance Journalism Award, in its third edition, or the first Journalism Award of the German Chamber in Spain, he has also given presentations and moderated tables on the Spanish job market.

The jury, under the honorary presidency of Antonio Garamendi, president of the CEOE, and Íñigo Fernández de Mesa, vice president of the CEOE and president of the IEE and the Awards Jury, deliberated on the nominations presented, for the four categories that make up the awards.

The IEE Prize for professional career in the economic field was awarded to Enrico Letta, dean of the IE School of Politics, Economics and Global Affairs of the IE University and Italian Prime Minister between 2013 and 2014. The Special Prize for the person or institution in the economic field, honorary and without financial endowment, went to the Rafael del Pino Foundation, currently chaired by María del Pino y Calvo-Sotelo, entrepreneur and daughter of Rafael del Pino and Moreno, promoter of the Foundation that bears his name. Finally the Award to The best young economic journalist went to Arturo Criado, deputy director of The Spaniard-Invertia.

The presentation of the III IEE Awards will take place next December in an event to be held at the CEOE headquarters in Madrid on a date yet to be determined.
