Florian Wirtz was forced to watch and had to watch Liverpool fans leave the stadium before the final whistle sounded. The champions took the pack against Nottingham Forest. Things only got better to some extent for West Ham United and the returning Niclas Füllkrug.

Liverpool FC’s crisis continues to worsen. The English football champions suffered their sixth defeat on matchday 12 of the Premier League. Without German national Florian Wirtz who was not in the squad due to muscle problems, the Reds were humiliated at home at Anfield with a score of 0:3 (0:1) against Nottingham Forest, who were previously ranked second to last in the standings.

Murillo (33rd minute), Nicolo Savona (46th) and Morgan Gibbs-White (78th) scored to give the visitors from Nottingham a surprising but deserved victory. Liverpool, who had just lost 3-0 to Manchester City in the league, started the match better and were the dominant team from the start. But Nottingham is the more efficient team.

Arne Slot’s team did not act consistently enough in front of goal. Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Alexis Mac Allister each missed several chances and were also denied by the strong defense of the visitors who are unbeaten in four matches. The substitution of former Frankfurt player Hugo Ekitiké also did not bring the desired turnaround.

No wins for Füllkrug, three points for Chelsea

Many Liverpool FC fans left the stadium early – a rarity at Anfield. The Reds, who host PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday, slipped to eleventh in the standings due to another league defeat and now even have to fear missing out on an international spot.

Meanwhile, national striker Niclas Füllkrug celebrated his comeback at West Ham United. In the 2-2 (2-0) draw at AFC Bournemouth, the striker appeared on the pitch for the first time since tearing his muscle in early October. Füllkrug, who recently missed the DFB’s international matches, came on as a substitute in the 74th minute when the score was 2-1. Moments later, West Ham conceded the equaliser.

In the top group, Chelsea FC closed the gap on league leaders Arsenal FC, at least temporarily, to three points. The Blues won 2-0 (1-0) at Burnley FC thanks to goals from Pedro Neto (37th) and Enzo Fernández (88th). Arsenal will face Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby on Sunday (17.30).
