«Who will win in Campania between Fico and Cirielli? I think it’s a good, open game. The left thought they would win but candidate Fico was not credible. I find many voters who are not from the League or the center-right but would vote for Cirielli or the League because they don’t trust Fico.” So said deputy prime minister Matteo Salvini, in Benevento to attend an election convention. «This summer in Campania there was a gap of 20 – 25 points for the left, but at the moment there are some who avoid such comparisons. The result depends on how many people vote: if few people vote in Campania it is easier for the left to win, if many vote then it’s game open”, concluded the League leader.
Tajani: “Campania is really up for grabs”
The Presidency of the Campania Region is “completely up for grabs”.
This was confirmed by Forza Italia national secretary Antonio Tajani, in Brussels, a few days before the vote in the most populous region of the South. “The sensation is very positive – says Tajani – because the center-right is growing.” The election campaign allowed for “strong growth both in Veneto, in Campania and in Puglia. Of course Campania, which seemed like an uncontestable region for the center-right, is now completely up for grabs.” The outcome of the challenge between Roberto Fico and Edmondo Cirielli, for Tajani, “depends on what happens in these last days”. The minister will travel to Naples «to end the election campaign, but I am confident that the game will be played until the final vote. I want to be optimistic. Superstitious, but optimistic”, he concluded.
