Results of the presidential elections in Chile 2025, live | Boric: “Chilean institutions must continue to strengthen”

Election Day, in Four Keys

Before saying goodbye, let’s look back at the day with the highlights of the first round of these presidential and parliamentary elections:

—The candidates Jeannette Jara, from left e José Antonio Kast, of the far right, will face each other in the second round after obtaining the highest number of votes in this Sunday’s elections. The former Minister of Labor obtained 26.81% of the votes, while the ultra-conservative obtained 23.99%;

—The big surprise was populism Franco Parisi, leader of the People’s Party, which, as in the 2021 elections, came in third place, with almost 20% of the vote. Now their electorate will be fundamental for the La Moneda candidates who will compete on December 14th. Parisi, however, did not give his support to any of the candidates who will compete in the second round. Instead, he asked them to “earn their votes.”

Evelyn Matthei, of the traditional right it is in fifth place; and the libertarian Johannes Kaiser in fourth position. Both announced their support for Kast’s candidacy;

—The results of the parliamentary elections are still being examined, although preliminary data suggests that the right is consolidating its lead Senate and that the far right is growing stronger Chamber of Deputies.
