The Roma Public Prosecutor’s Office has requested a halt to proceedings in which former Roma number 10 Francesco Totti is being investigated for child neglect. The story began with a complaint by his ex-wife, Ilary Blasi, who stated that Totti left his daughter alone at home for several hours one night in May 2023. According to today’s ‘La Repubblica’ report, the footballer’s current partner, Noemi Bocchi, whose young children were also in the house, is also being investigated. The nanny who lives in the same building will also be included in the suspect list on charges of lying that she was in the house.

For the prosecutor who asked for the dismissal, “there was never any real danger to the minor – we read in the newspapers – the youngest child had a telephone with which to call his mother, he was with the older children and the nanny, although not present, ‘might’ be able to come soon because she lives in the same building”. Blasi’s lawyers opposed the request for dismissal, arguing that “there is no trace of formal assignment to the woman and, in any case, the little girl was not with two other people but alone, around a large apartment.” A hearing before a Rome preliminary hearing judge is set for December 1.

“The request for the prosecutor’s dismissal was actually motivated by the existing facts – emphasized lawyer Gianluca Tognozzi, defending Totti – However, in my opinion, all of them play an important role in the dispute in the civil court.” In civil proceedings, the footballer is represented by lawyer Antonio Conte.
