Rome, inaugurates the fourth edition of the American Cultural Festival – Il Tempo

Rome, November 14 (Adnkronos) – The fourth edition of the Festival of American Culture opened last night, November 13, at the Center for American Studies via Michelangelo Caetani 32 in Rome, this year dedicated to the theme “The American Dream: myths, realities and contradictions”.

The inaugural evening, introduced by Center director Roberto Sgalla, got off to an exciting start with a performance by the Gospel Choir of the University of Rome Tor Vergata which immediately captivated the audience with its energy and intensity.

Speakers include Karen Schinnerer (US Embassy), Federica Di Pillo (American Chamber of Commerce), Daniele Fiorentino (Organizing Committee of the American Cultural Festival) and Paolo Gaudenzi (Scientific Cooperation Advisor at the Italian Consulate General in Boston). Everyone underlines the importance of the chosen theme and the collaborative relationship that connects the Center for American Studies with various cultural realities, which will be protagonists throughout the entire festival.

The evening was enriched by the speech of Monica Maggioni, member of the Center’s board, who highlighted how the American Dream is a concept capable of encompassing personalities of different cultural and social origins, underlining that each person, from their own point of view, can achieve and realize it.

The atmosphere became even more festive with swing note music from the 40s from the Smile Orchestra which accompanied the guests and helped turn the inauguration event into a moment of celebration and reflection.

The festival will continue in the next few days with meetings, debates and events dedicated to exploring various aspects of the American myth, between dreams, contradictions and contemporary reality.
