I absolutely support” the law that gives Milan special powers like those that the capital Rome wants to give. This was said by the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, during the Italian Direzione Nord event at the Triennale.

“If it exists for the capital Rome, it is natural for me that it exists for Milan”, added Sala, underlining that “from an economic point of view it is clear that Milan is still the most important reality. From Milan to Rome 20 billion in income tax per year comes.

According to Sala, “what is quite clear is that the government is largely on the side of Rome. I say this with respect for my friend Gualtieri and the Romans, but this is evident” concluded the mayor.

“I am absolutely consistent with the speech I delivered. And I am convinced that it is necessary to give more autonomy” to Milan as well, said the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, speaking about the hypothesis of also giving Milan special powers.

“I think it is absurd that Mayor Sala is against greater autonomy in the Region and wants it for the Municipality. I have always been an autonomist – he added –. However, for the municipality, a constitutional amendment must be made in light of the law of the capital of Rome”. And in any case “by our laws 9 – he concluded – we have shown that we are also autonomous over the territory”.
