Mobile antique book market. A way to introduce (cheaply) even the youngest to reading. After the great success of the last edition and a stop in Ortona, “Salvalibro” returned to Milan on Sunday. Appointment is free entry from 10.00 to 17.00 at the attractive Rotonda del Pellegrini (via delle Ore 3). Created by Sergio Malavasi, founder of Maremagnum.com and organized in collaboration with the Maremagnum Librorum Association of Milan, the same one that has been promoting Vecchi libri in Piazza Salvalibro since 1995, it is “a travel market created to combine passion, sustainability and a culture of reuse. Its spirit, assure the organizers who are waiting for readers and collectors from all over Italy, “returns to Milan with the same spirit that made it successful: giving new life to books, supporting independent bookstores and bringing the younger generation closer to read.”
In “Salvalibro” visitors will be able to choose from thousands of antique books, carefully selected by Maremagnum.com and from bookstore chains from various cities in Italy: La Bottega delle Eventi, La Libreria Malavasi and Il Muro di Tessa (Milan), Libreria Scarpignato (Rome) and Liberìa (Ortona, Abruzzo). The most popular promotion “3 books for only 10 euros” is back this year. With a more profitable formula for those who participate in the restoration project: by bringing at least three books in good condition, the promotion becomes “4 books for 10 euros”. Those wishing to contribute more widely can bring a larger amount and will receive a discount voucher to use at the checkout. (School books, encyclopedias, or volumes that are too damaged are not accepted.)
The big news in 2025 will be the Under 30 promo with “4 books for 10 euros” without even bringing a book to keep.
“An initiative designed to bring new generations closer to the joy of reading and encourage them to create their own collections of ancient books: Salvalibro is more than just a market, it is a traveling cultural project that enhances the memory of paper and promotes a culture of conscious reuse. This initiative was created to give a second life to forgotten books, at the same time offering an accessible culture and an opportunity for readers, collectors and bookstores to meet.”
