REGGIO EMILIA (ITALPRESS) – A draw between Sassuolo and Pisa, in the final match of matchday 12 of Serie A. Ending 2-2 in Reggio Emilia, Gilardino’s troops were thwarted twice by neroverdi Grosso. Toscani took the lead through Nzola’s penalty (4′) and it was immediately caught by Matic (6′). In the final Meister (81′) scored 2-1, but Thorsvedt (94′), thirty seconds after Di Marco’s final whistle, denied Pisa a second consecutive championship success. Sassuolo failed to overtake Lazio and remains in ninth position with 17 points. A sixth consecutive result was beneficial for Nzola and his teammates, who moved up to 16th place with 10 points. In the next round, Grosso’s squad will visit Fabregas’ Como (28 November at 20.45), while Gilardino’s men will host Chivu’s Inter (30 November at 15.00).
The first emotion after less than a minute. In the first possession, Pisa was awarded a penalty kick: contact in the area between Tourè and Candè with match director Di Marco who, after a review of the pitch, indicated the spot for Gilardino’s team. Nzola was not hypnotized by Muric and in the 4th minute put the visitors ahead. Sassuolo immediately responded by equalizing the score through Matic’s first goal in his black and green uniform. From a corner, a superb left foot volley from the former Manchester United and Roma midfielder and it was 1-1 in the 6th minute. Some good offensive ideas from Pisa, but they couldn’t realize them due to some inaccuracies in the finishing phase by Tramoni. A great first half for the Tuscans, who lacked the final spark to take the lead in the first half.
Grosso’s team made a good start to the second half and almost equalized at 2-1 in the 51st minute. Konè served to Pinamonti in the penalty area, who was unable to return it to the net with the right amount of malice and it was deflected by the attentive Semper. Sassuolo’s pressure continued thanks to the introduction of Laurientè to replace the less active Fadera, but Semper had nothing to worry about. The teams held out in the final quarter of an hour, with Pisa pushing harder. In the 81st minute the visitors made a breakthrough: Moreo pounced on Coulibaly in midfield and sent Meister inside, who beat Muharemovic one-on-one and gave the Nerazzurri a second lead. In the middle of stoppage time, Thorstvedt passed Pinamonti into the penalty area, but the black-and-green center forward missed it and sent the return ball high with his left foot. Thirty seconds before the final whistle sounded, Sassuolo got an almost unexpected draw. Cross cut by Volpato, who caught Thorstvedt between Tourè and Caracciolo to make the score 2-2 at the end.
