Schlein, ‘today at Prodi’s, the Democratic Party puts society’s problems at the center’ – Il Tempo

Rome, November 15 (Adnkronos) – “I always listen to Professor Prodi very attentively, I read him carefully, today I visited him. Today we talked about it with the mayors, the reality is that they are already doing important things to improve people’s lives. There is a lot of talk about the reasons why the American Democratic Party won in New Jersey, in Virginia, in New York: of course at the center is the rising cost of living, but also free kindergartens, free local public transport. These are things that our administrators are already doing, in general concrete”. This was underlined by Democratic Party Secretary Elly Schlein, guest ‘In altre parole’ on La7.

“In Emilia Romagna and Tuscany – he explained – they have made kindergarten schools free thanks to the use of European funds, because we know this reduces the gap between children. When there are no nursery schools, unfortunately it is women who stop working and this is not only unfair but also uneconomical.

Another thing is public transport, which in some regions, for example Campania, has been made free for students, helping families save 600 euros and also trying to encourage a culture of sustainable mobility. I believe that this is just a proposal that speaks to the real problems of society”, who, “tired, very often returning home from low-paid and unsatisfying jobs, find themselves having dinner and discussing these problems here. When the left puts society’s real problems at its center – concluded Schlein – it regains its confidence and manages to win again and that is what we are trying to do with the Democratic Party”.
