Second example: Schumacher blackmail reopened

Case of attempted extortion Family Schumacher will be retried from Friday (9am) at Wuppertal district court. After both the family as the plaintiff and the three defendants filed an appeal against the district court’s decision, now the three of them are back in court.

15 million euros requested

The Schumacher family was blackmailed into publishing private photos and videos. They had to pay 15 million euros, otherwise the images would be published on the darknet. Former Formula 1 racer Michael Schumacher has been shielded from the public by his family and employees since a serious skiing accident in 2013.

The Schumacher family’s goal as co-plaintiffs is to have the former security guard sentenced to a higher sentence not as an accomplice, but as an accomplice. He was sentenced to two years in prison with probation and a fine of 2,400 euros for aiding and abetting. The Wuppertal district court sentenced the main defendant (54), who has several previous convictions, to three years in prison, in mid-February. Her son (31) received six months probation for aiding and abetting.

Negotiations were planned for five days

Five days of negotiations are scheduled until early December for the new procedures. The presiding judge of the trial was Markus Quantius, deputy chairman of the regional court. The defendant’s statement is planned to be presented on the first day of trial after the indictment is read out. Two of them had already made a confession at first, while the third remained silent.
