Drones have again reportedly hit critical infrastructure in Belgium. Three drones are said to have flown over the nuclear power plant.
Drones have once again been spotted at critical infrastructure in Belgium – this time at a nuclear power plant near Antwerp. This had no impact on Doel power plant activity, the Belga news agency reported in the evening, citing operator Engie. A total of three drones were seen. According to Belga, the police did not want to comment on the incident.
It also appears at several airports
Based on information, several drones were previously seen at Liège airport. Air traffic was then suspended for nearly an hour overnight.
Drones have recently been seen several times in Belgium, including at the Belgian Kleine-Brogel military base used by NATO. According to unconfirmed reports, the air base is one of the locations in Europe where US nuclear weapons are stored. Traffic was also temporarily stopped at Brussels and Liège airports due to drone sightings.
The Bundeswehr supported it with defensive measures
The German Defense Ministry announced last week that the Bundeswehr was supporting Belgium in drone defense. Belgium applied for support.
The first troops have arrived
According to the Ministry of Defense, the first air force advance force has arrived in Belgium to assess the situation and coordinate the use of drone detection and counter-drone capabilities with the Belgian armed forces.
