Face “silence” from Shein, the platform was called before the deputies of the committee for sustainable development and regional planning on November 26, announced on X elected official Antoine Vermorel-Marques (LR), Friday 14 November. “This is a rare procedure used against companies that want to ‘work with France’, but refuse to come and discuss with its deputies”the lawmakers wrote.

Shein was originally scheduled to be heard next Tuesday at the National Assembly, at the invitation of an information mission on the control of products imported into France, but the Asian group told franceinfo that they would not make the trip, confirming information from the LCP. The deputies specifically wanted to hear from the platform’s leaders about the profits made from selling child pornography dolls.

“As the company is currently involved in several ongoing processes, including legal proceedings, it would not be appropriate to participate in the parliamentary mission hearings at this time”a spokesperson for the group in France told franceinfo. “Shein remains fully prepared to resume trading as soon as these elements are sufficiently clarified.”
