Significant savings in Berlin’s cultural budget continue without significant protests – Culture

When the Berlin Chamber of Deputies discussed Berlin’s cultural budget on November 14, something went wrong. While one or two corrections may still be made before the state budget is adopted in December, the figures presented by the Culture Agency in its report to lawmakers are significant. This year, the cultural budget fell by 133 million euros, with a total volume of around one billion euros. According to the planning of the cultural administration, the volume of savings in the next two years will amount to a total of 130 million euros – 74 million in 2026, 56 million in 2027. This means that the Senate is making disproportionate savings in the culture department.
