Singer Morad was brought to justice this Thursday for allegedly violating the restraining order granted to his stepfather. The man saw the rapper’s car parked less than 500 meters from the room where he lives and alerted the urban guard of the Hospitalet, who proceeded to arrest Morad for violating precautionary measures, according to digital news. Metropolis and judicial sources confirmed this to this newspaper.
The defense claims that Morad was not aware that his stepfather, whose name is Mohamed, had rented a room in that area and disputes that the distance from the house is less than 500 metres.
The origin of Morad’s new clash with justice dates back to the alleged mistreatment inflicted by Mohamed on the singer’s mother. On one occasion, Morad berated the man over the phone for the way he had treated the woman. Mohamed secretly recorded him, reported him for the crime of threats and asked for a restraining order.
A court in Sant Feliu de Llobregat (Barcelona) granted protection to Mohamed T.. The resolution, to which EL PAÍS had access, prohibits Morad from “approaching” Mohamed’s house “or the place he usually frequents” (and expressly mentions his “place of work, leisure and school”) and in particular his garden, in Sant Joan Despí. It also prohibits him from maintaining any kind of communication with him, all for a period of one year.
Morad’s successful musical career was ruined, and even ended, by his run-ins with the law. In April 2024 he was jailed to serve a lesser sentence (six months in prison) for a road safety crime which the Prosecutor’s Office refused to suspend due to repeat offenses. It came out just three months later. Shortly before, in February of that year, he had accepted a two-year prison sentence for encouraging disorder and attacking local police officers in the Blocs Florida square in Hospitalet (Barcelona), the place where he grew up and the usual setting for his video clips. In 2022, a judge issued an order prohibiting the rapper from approaching the area, a precautionary measure that had already expired.
