Jannik Sinner celebrates with Italy. The Italian tennis player who rejected Captain Volandri’s call praised the national team which today, Sunday 23 November, has beat Spain in the Davis Cup final: “Congratulations on this extraordinary victory,” wrote Sinner complete with three-colored emoticons in the story published on his Instagram profile.
It was Fitp president Angelo Binaghi who brought up the world number two, who had caused a lot of controversy at the time of Davis’ ‘big rejection’: “Sinner was right, we could have won it even without him”, he said to Rai microphone minutes after the win.
The reference is an interview the world number two gave to SkySport, in which Sinner recalled how Italy had a strong team even without him and that they could still win the tournament. A prophecy came true.
