The celebration this weekend of the Valencian Community Motorcycle Grand Prix will motivate thousands of two-wheel lovers to travel to the Ricardo Tormo speed circuit in Cheste (Valencia). The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) will launch from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th a special plan to monitor and organize the traffic of spectators who travel, especially if they do so with their private vehicles. In 2024 this test had to be suspended due to the consequences of the damage of October 29th.
The novelty this year is that maps have been created with the recommended alternative routes, both entering and exiting the circuit, depending on the type of vehicle with which the journey is made. The maps are now available on the DGT website.
The surveillance device includes risky and dangerous behavior, movement in groups of motorcyclists, speed checks together with alcohol and drug tests, overtaking vehicles without maintaining mandatory separation and overtaking with two or more motorcycles in parallel.
In this type of sporting events, the major traffic problems occur on the A-3 Madrid-Valencia and on the AP-7 from the Tarragona border to Valencia and on the A-7 and AP-7 from Valencia to Alcira.
Surveillance will be carried out by the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard, which will increase the number of officers assigned to the province of Valencia, and by the staff of the Levante Traffic Management Centre. Added to this will be a drone equipped with a camera that will transmit images to the management center in real time and three DGT helicopters equipped with Pegasus radar, which will carry out regulation and surveillance tasks on the roads leading to the circuit.

Pay attention to the steering wheel
Traffic has recommended that motorists pay particular attention whether they are going to the Cheste circuit or passing through that area. He also recalled that road users should be informed about the traffic status and any accidents that could occur through the usual DGT channels: social networks @InformaciónDGT; @DGTes; THE webon the telephone number 011 and in radio news.
DGT officials intend to convey specific messages to motorcyclists and other drivers via social networks. Particular emphasis will be placed on careful driving and respect for other vehicles. Traffico recalled that injuries suffered by motorcyclists in the event of an accident have a risk between 20 and 40 times higher than that corresponding to a motorist.
Information panels with variable messages will also disseminate messages about accidents or traffic information.
