Did investigators miss it?
Fabian Case: Suddenly a suspicious object appears

Police investigators searched the location of eight-year-old Fabian’s body several times. But now several suspicious objects have appeared there.
The suspect in the Fabian murder case has so far remained silent regarding these allegations. That’s what Rostock’s senior prosecutor, Harald Nowack, said. The woman is accused of killing eight-year-old Fabian four weeks ago and then dumping his body in a pond near Klein Upahl (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania). He is strongly suspected of murder. Authorities have not provided any information about their identities or possible background to the crimes.
As reported by t-online, citing other media, the suspect is said to be Fabian’s father’s ex-girlfriend, Gina H.. The Rostock district court issued an arrest warrant for the 29-year-old man on Friday. He is currently detained.
According to her defense attorney, Gina H. is currently exercising her right to refuse to testify. He advised him to do this, the lawyer said in an interview with RTL. According to investigators, the suspicions against the woman began with evidence collected by investigators. This was apparently so serious that the judge issued an arrest warrant for the suspect. Whether such evidence is ultimately sufficient to convict in court can only be clarified during the trial itself.
But critical questions now arise regarding the work of the Rostock assassination squad. The newspaper “Bild” reported on Sunday about a suspicious object it said was lying in the grass around where Fabian’s body was found. On October 16, two days after police secured the location at a pond in the Güstrow district, “BILD” reporters found a white zipper with the letter “G” on it.
Journalists apparently alerted investigators to the find and even provided a picture of the zipper. However, four days later, on October 20, the item was still found at a location near a pond in the town of Klein Upahl, Mecklenburg. “BILD” then contacted the prosecutor’s office and reported back the findings, as the newspaper wrote. But again nothing happened. According to the Rostock prosecutor’s office, the discovery of the zipper was clarified, “and it was determined that it had nothing to do with the crime.”
Also on Sunday, other media reports emerged that could shed light on the police commission’s investigative work. Therefore, journalists from RTL TV station were approached by a walker near the place where the body was found. He apparently handed reporters a black plastic bag with charred leather gloves inside. The pedestrian said he found the gloves only about 100 meters from where Fabian’s body was found.
A forensic investigation should show whether the gloves are connected to the violent crime. As reported by RTL, the journalists handed over the items to the police. As you can imagine, the charred sarong was placed there after police forensic experts secured the location. Since investigators now assume that Fabian’s body was burned to cover his tracks, it could also be evidence relevant to the crime.
