Swiss skier Lara Gut-Behrami falls while training in the US. There are conflicting reports regarding the severity of their injuries.

Swiss skier Lara Gut-Behrami apparently fell during training on American Copper Mountain. According to his doctor, Dr. Olivier Siegrist tore the cruciate ligament and medial ligament in his left knee. He told the newspaper “Le Nouvelliste” that he had been summoned by the athlete. The Swiss Ski Association initially spoke about an injury to his left knee.

As reported by Eurosport, the athlete who wanted to take part in the Super-G race has now returned to his homeland. There should be further investigation there. Fall occurs on Thursday (local time). “I saw the video of the fall. It was violent,” Rainer Salzgeber, racing director of outfitter “Head” Gut-Behrami, told “Blick.” He was said to be trapped at the gate.

How serious the injury actually is remains unclear at this time. Head coach Beat Tschuor told Swiss “Blick”: “All I can say is that he has a slight concussion. And his left knee seems to be injured, but it’s not clear at all. Everything you read is just speculation.”

The Swiss player, who won the overall World Cup in 2015/16 and 2023/24, is in fine form. At the season opener in Sölden he finished third. In the US he trained with the Swiss team for the first downhill run in St. Louis. Moritz on December 12.

Four World Cup races will take place in Colorado from Thursday through next Sunday – first the women’s Super-G and giant slalom, then the men’s giant slalom and super-G at the weekend. Lara Gut-Behrami won a total of 48 World Cup races in downhill, super-G, giant slalom and combined disciplines in her career. In 2021 he won the World Cup gold medal twice in Cortina d’Ampezzo. He also won gold at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
