Team in decline: Eastern Club makes coaching decision | sport

Before that state cup quarter-final at Turbine Halle (Saturday, 1 p.m.). Hallesche FC once again to calm fans’ heated emotions.

As happened two weeks ago, the club’s board of directors expressed its opinion on the club’s website. The statement said regarding the sporting situation: “The international break was used intensively – as previously planned – to analyze the current situation, the reasons for the lack of results and possible solutions together with the coaching team and sports management. The result of this analysis is clear: We remain confident that the people involved can continue the path taken successfully in the summer.”

In simple terms: Both sporting director Daniel Meyer, who faced criticism from fans, and head coach Robert Schröder were allowed to continue – even though HFC have now slipped to 7th after a good start to the season and are already 13 points behind the leaders Leipzig Locomotive own.

Interesting: Neither Meyer nor Schröder were mentioned by name once in the boss’ statement.

HFC boss “not satisfied with points earned and standings”

There were intensive exchanges with fans, members and sponsors – the result of which was that “we must not fall into activism, but must continue on the path we have chosen”. Although the board “understands the concerns and concerns this has caused many fans, members and partners.” And further: “We are all dissatisfied with the points obtained and the position in the standings.”

The fact that the club is almost exclusively (and increasingly harshly) criticised, especially on its own media platforms, is only mentioned in passing. HFC bosses have also barely acknowledged any wrongdoing. Just clarity and transparency on the change of coach in the summer and beyond Jonas Nietfeld’s departure you “miss”.

Even though the sport is mediocre, the people of Halle continue to show unity. How long this will last will be seen next week when we watch a floodlit clash against second-placed Carl Zeiss Jena on Friday night.
