As a tribute to the victims of the November 13 attacks, the bells of Notre-Dame de Paris and “of all churches” the capital will ring on Thursday evening. “Ten years ago, our city deeply mourned the deaths of 130 innocent people. For many of us, the memory of the events of November 13, 2015, even today, is a long night of suffering.” And “our amazement at the intensity of the crime”, announced the Archbishop of Paris, Laurent Ulrich, in a message to the people of Paris. A trip down memory lane. Emmanuel Macron will preside over the tenth anniversary of the November 13 attacks with successive tributes at each attack site, starting at the Stade de France.
Dedication of Memorial Park. At the end of a day of tributes to the victims, Emmanuel Macron is expected to attend the November 13 inauguration of the Garden of Remembrance at Place Saint-Gervais, opposite Paris City Hall, where he will give a speech. Already open to the public, the park is a stone enclosure from which emerge granite blocks reminiscent of the six attack sites, with victims’ names engraved on them and, on the ground, a road map.
The tribute begins on Wednesday. The Eiffel Tower was decorated in blue, white and red on Wednesday evening. And in front of the Bataclan, unknown people started leaving flowers and candles.
Music as a common thread. The dedication ceremony is scheduled between 6 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. Artistic direction was entrusted to Thierry Reboul, co-conductor with Thomas Jolly at the 2024 Olympic opening ceremony on the River Seine. The common thread of these celebrations was music, paying tribute to the “feeling of celebration” that the attacks sought to strike, according to Thierry Reboul. With a memorial service by Victor Le Masne as the culmination. To follow this ceremony, France 2 and franceinfo (channel 16) offer a special program between 16:15. and 8 p.m.
