On the occasion of the Chancellor’s historic birthday, Friedrich Merz received many congratulations. It’s not just party members who are coming forward.

The churches also conveyed their congratulations to the Chancellor. Chairman of the Council of Evangelical Churches in Germany (EKD), Kirsten Fehrsthanked Merz for his “willingness to work with great commitment for the common good.” He hopes the Chancellor can continue to carry out his duties “with full enthusiasm, a sense of responsibility and a sense of proportion.”
Chairman of the German Catholic Bishops’ Conference, Georg Batzingexpressed respect for “work in and for the cohesion of our society” and international commitments.
