This oversight cost him his life.
A cleaning lady was shot through a door in the US – she entered the wrong address. This 32 year old man leaves behind a husband and four children. It was unclear whether the shooter would be punished under US self-defense laws.
Indiana: Husband witnessed firsthand shooting of cleaning woman
Maria V., originally from Guatemala, works as a janitor in America with her husband Mauricio. Early in the morning of November 5, the two were on their way to assignments in Whitestown (Indiana state, USA). But they went to the wrong address.
When they were about to enter the house, a deadly drama occurred. “She hadn’t even put the key in,” Maria’s husband recalled to the Indy Star. He heard gunshots. “It looked like he had been hit in the head,” Mauricio V. told station WRTV. “He fell into my arms; I saw blood everywhere.”
US: The “Stand your Ground” law legitimizes the use of deadly force
Maria V. didn’t stand a chance: Shortly before 7 a.m., police found the mother of four dead in her husband’s arms on the porch of the house.
So far, no one has been arrested or charged in the case. The district attorney’s office is considering charges against the homeowner, but he was able to escape punishment despite the fatal shooting. The background is the “Stand Your Ground” law, which legitimizes the use of deadly force in self-defense. For example, the owner feels threatened in his own home.

The husband of gunshot cleaning woman Maria V. demands justice
Mauricio V. found it inconceivable that the shooter would not be punished. “What I need now is justice,” he told WRTV. “Because he took his life. I think that’s inhumane.” She now has to raise her four children – three girls (8, 10, 17) and an eleven-month-old boy – alone.
Several campaigns have been launched on the Gofundme donation platform to support the families of the deceased. One of the campaigns came from Maria’s brother, Rudy, who wanted to return his sister’s body to her home country. As of Monday morning (November 10), around 95,000 US dollars (around 82,000 euros) in donations had been collected.
