The first outbreak of bird flu, at a poultry farm in Arnac-la-Poste, was detected in Haute-Vienne, reported ICI Limousin (formerly France Bleu), Sunday 23 November.
THAT “highly pathogenic bird flu outbreak”confirmed on Friday, the Haute-Vienne prefecture reported in a press release. To combat the spread of the virus, “protection zone” (3 km around the hearth) and a “surveillance zone” (10 km around the outbreak) has been implemented to prohibit the movement of poultry and other captive birds, unless an exception is made.
Regarding farms where bird flu outbreaks were detected, all their birds were emptied by state services. Breeders will receive compensation. About twenty houses “highly pathogenic bird flu” has been recorded in France in recent weeks.
