Xabi Alonso thanks Kylian Mbappé. Announced in the hot seat of the Madrid press after a series of 3 matches without a win, the Real Madrid coach gave a little respite thanks to the success of his men in Piraeus (4-3), Wednesday 26 November 2025, on the 5th day of the Champions League. A success that is characteristic of Kylian Mbappé, creator of his first quadruple in the queen of European competitions, he has scored four hat-tricks in C1, with 22 goals this season in all competitions.

While Real Madrid was trailing to everyone’s surprise, the French team captain got Madrid’s ship back afloat by scoring three goals in seven minutes, in the heart of the first half. The Frenchman first took advantage of Vinicius’ serve to run behind the defense and adjust to the goalkeeper (1-1, 22), before doubling the lead – a rare occurrence – with a header, taking in a cross from Arda Güler (2-1, 24). On a new deep serve, this time signed by Eduardo Camavinga, Kylian Mbappé was on target (3-1, 29). Enough to score the second fastest hat-trick in the history of the competition.

However, Real Madrid played to scare themselves, reducing Mehdi Taremi’s score (3-2, 52nd). Then Kylian Mbappé scored again, to allow his team to break the lead, alone against an empty net, on a serve from Vinicius (4-2, 60th). A goal that was not anecdotal because Olympiakos again reduced the score at the end of the match, through Ayoub El-Kaabi (4-3, 81). Weak defensively, but carried offensively by their French striker, Real Madrid gave Olympiakos important points and are now fifth in the Champions League regular season. With 9 goals in 5 matches, Kylian Mbappé is the top scorer.
