This is a coalition that unites eight groups in the National Assembly, excluding the LFI and RN. A comprehensive bill to combat violence committed against women and children will be presented this Monday, November 24 to the National Assembly, by socialist deputy Céline Thiébault-Martinez, on the eve of the international day dedicated to the issue. It translates 140 proposals formulated by feminist associations a year ago.
This is the first time a text contains violence against women and children. In particular, he proposed the creation of a justice chain dedicated to sexual and gender-based violence, with courts composed of popular juries; to systematize the request for consent from women during episiotomy; to require platforms to remove any intimate content distributed without consent within forty-eight hours, or to conduct individual interviews with students upon entering kindergarten, when an average of three children per class are victims of sexual violence.
The proposal is unlikely to be placed on the National Assembly’s agenda, but the 110 signatory countries hope the government will turn it into a bill.
