Firefighters rescue man from burning gas station

Major operation in Südring: A gas station caught fire, thick smoke billowed from the building. What the rescue team found inside.
A fire at a gas station in Südring in Düsseldorf-Bilk sparked a major firefighting operation on Monday afternoon. A man was rescued from a burning building with life-threatening injuries, the fire department said.
The Düsseldorf fire brigade was called to the operation at around 15.50. When we arrived, thick smoke could be seen in the gas station area. Emergency services initial investigation at the scene revealed that the fire occurred in the rear area of the petrol station store. The fire threatened to spread to the roof structure. The gas station sales area was filled with thick smoke.
The fire brigade immediately took action to extinguish and inspect the gas station workshop. Emergency services rescued a man from the area. As a result of the fire, the man suffered life-threatening injuries. He received emergency medical treatment at the scene and was then taken to a hospital for further medical treatment.
Emergency services in the state capital Düsseldorf provided medical treatment to three other people. However, according to the press release, they did not require hospital treatment. Extinguishing work continues with time-consuming post-extinguishing work to identify the last hidden embers.
During the firefighting operation, the Südring had to be initially closed to traffic in both directions, and then only towards the city center. Netzgesellschaft Düsseldorf employees turned off the electricity in the area as a precaution.
The operation of around 30 emergency services was completed after about two and a half hours. As a precaution, firefighters routinely check fire sources at night for hidden embers. Criminal police have started investigating the cause of the fire.
