The gunman in Magdeburg may want to testify and lay out conspiracy theories

Magdeburg Christmas market attacker Taleb A. revealed his defense strategy in a preliminary hearing. There’s a conspiracy theory in there.

According to “Stern” information, the trial for Taleb A took place two weeks ago under the chairmanship of the responsible judge in Magdeburg. The hearing was intended to give him a chance to comment on the crimes prosecutors accused him of before trial. Taleb A. was taken from the Berlin-Plötzensee detention center and explained his defense strategy. The hearing should show whether he applied this in court. However, it is unlikely he will exercise his right to remain silent in light of his statements at trial.

Taleb A. wants to implement a “state of emergency” because of conspiracy theories

Taleb A. explained to the judge that he primarily wanted to implement a “state of emergency” under Articles 34 and 35 of the Criminal Code. According to this, exemptions from punishment are provided for cases where the accused is in “existing danger to his life, limb or liberty” which he cannot escape except through the acts of which he is accused.

The minutes of the trial, which lasted more than three hours, show that the defendant from Saudi Arabia and now 51 years old was definitely involved in various conspiracy stories long before committing the crime. He sees himself as a critic of Islam.

He explained to the judge that state authorities and the refugee initiative in Germany were working together with the regime in Saudi Arabia to eliminate any opposition critical to Islam. Magdeburg police even tried to kill Saudi asylum seekers. The goal of the comprehensive conspiracy, which also felt threatened by it, was the Islamization of Europe.

Taleb A. described the police as the real perpetrators

During the trial, Taleb A. made increasingly confusing accusations, culminating in the fact that the police were not the real perpetrators of the rampage at the Christmas market in Magdeburg. By providing official information about what happened, the victims of the attack will later be deceived.

Taleb A., who worked as a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy before his crimes, said several times that in all his conflicts with the police, courts and authorities he felt he was not treated like a human being. Even though he has received massive threats since 2023, he has always tried to find a peaceful solution.

Three hours before the incident, Taleb A. went to the supermarket

On the day of the attack, he was in the supermarket around 4 p.m., about three hours before the crime occurred, and had already mentally said goodbye to the world as he hoped the police officers would immediately shoot him. According to Taleb A., the pain he could not bear would end.

In the attack on the Magdeburg Christmas market on December 20 2024, the perpetrator drove a heavy BMW SUV into a crowd of visitors at night. Six people died and many others were injured, some of them critically.
