Dordogne (France) – Ready to face a scam that would trip up even the greatest wizard? Nine years after the finale, “Incredibles” returns to theaters. Returning: Jesse Eisenberg (“The Social Network”), Woody Harrelson (“Zombieland”), Dave Franco (“Bad Neighbors”) and Isla Fisher (“The Great Gatsby”) as the legendary “Horsemen.” But this time not all the familiar characters survive the big finale.
The third part is a continuation of its predecessor. Director Ruben Fleischer (51) tells the story of a group of illusionists who not only deceive the audience with their tricks, but also fight against injustice. This time they took a riskier route Diamond theft from Antwerp via France to Abu Dhabi.
Lost in a maze of deception: reality and illusion blur in film. Who goes up or down here is determined not by physics, but by the trick
The trick behind the trick
What starts as a reunion of old heroes quickly turns into a petty duel between generations. Three young wizards join the team and further overshadow the older warriors. While classic games still rely on dexterity and psychological gameplay, these new figures feature lightning-fast deepfake, projection and deception technology. The question always arises: Who is actually showing whom here?
Generations of magicians unite: Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg (42), Dominic Sessa (23), Dave Franco (40), Justice Smith (30), Isla Fisher (49) and Ariana Greenblatt (19) appear in front of the camera together for the first time in “The Incredibles 3”.
At the film’s turning point, both generations end up in a remote region of France – a training ground for former illusionists. But what started as a setback ended in emotional devastation.
+++ WARNING, SPOILERS +++ If you keep reading, you’ll find out which characters didn’t survive the film! +++
About halfway through the film, Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman) returns – once a magician, then an escape artist, most recently serving as the Horseman’s mentor. He takes the team to a hidden retreat for illusionists, an old magical mansion filled with mechanics, history, and symbolism.
But during a risky trick, Bradley was shot – and died soon after. His death is shocking and marks an emotional breakdown in the film. The character who has connected, checked and warned in all parts leaves the stage.
But that wasn’t the last major change. Who really takes control – and who planned everything from the start – will only be seen in the end.
