Pampering the left to the point of committing violence. Matteo Lepore, Mayor of Bologna, tried to shift the blame and damage that occurred yesterday onto the government. But in reality the city is locked into a system where government and social centers run hand in hand, bound hand and foot by years of complicity and indulgence. The mayor spoke about the Interior Ministry’s “reckless” management of public order, and asked for compensation. In short, minister Matteo Piantedosi’s “mistake” was not stopping the basketball game, Virtus Bologna-Maccabi. According to Lepore, the executive had initiated a “testosterone” clash, using “brawn” and not “brain.” In short, the violent people, who according to the mayor all came “from outside the city”, will find support in the choice of the Ministry of the Interior. Deputy Minister Molteni responded by defining the mayor’s remarks as “irresponsible words”. And it’s a shame that the acronyms in the square mostly come from Bologna. And most unfortunately, it was the Palazzo d’Accursio itself that for many years guaranteed support, space and legitimacy for social centers that Lepore currently pretends not to know about. Let’s take the case of Làbas, one of the main figures of the anti-Israel protests. The acronym, through an association, manages the city space in the center (vicolo Bolognetti 2), obtained with a tender defined by the opposition as “two lira” and considered tailor-made, after a previous assignment was rejected by the TAR. The Tpo social center, which is also on the square, benefits from the city’s support for after-school programs and, on the Municipality’s website, a “contribution” appears dedicated to those activities. Tpo – as highlighted by the police headquarters -, like Làbas, has “premises assigned for use by the Municipality”. Crash Laboratories, another protagonist of the mobilization against the game, acquired a former dairy factory through Corticella. In short, if it may be difficult to identify the individuals responsible for the officers’ injuries and the resulting losses (around 100 thousand euros), one thing is certain: Lepore knows very well – and how – the acronyms that give life to the proceedings. Furthermore, the League reported that two center-left exponents were present in Piazza Maggiore before the departure of the procession. The two, who later wrote on social media that they were in the square peacefully, were Giovanni Gordini, from the “Citizenship with De Pascale” list, and Giacomo Tartisano, who sits on the city council with the “Mayor of Lepore” list. And Patrik Zaki flooded Instagram with stories from the demonstration location. The essence of this initiative is, in essence, entirely Bolognese in origin. Moreover, the police always emphasize that the number of people who come “from outside” is at most 100 out of 5 thousand. Stefano Cavedagna, Fdi MEP, spoke about Lepore’s “political responsibility”. And he called for his resignation: “Lepore will try to say he said so but in reality they are a group he knows and finances. He knows the script of these characters very well and deliberately raised the tension level”. The leader of the Lega city council, Matteo Di Benedetto, also said something similar: “We ask the left-wing councilors present yesterday in the square to clarify their position in the face of serious facts like these. And we believe that it is right that the bill for damages should be paid by the conference organizers, who are truly responsible for what happened.” Then there is Siid Negash, an Eritrean and Muslim council member who is the leader of the “Lepore mayor” list group, supporters of the Global Sumud Flotilla and so on. He also shared a post in which council members Gordini and Tartisano revealed that they were in the square.
Therefore, Lepore, after urging the reddest region of Bologna to boycott the match, asked for redress from the Ministry of the Interior, which was simply trying to avoid setting a precedent. And he did, pretending not to know who the field leaders were against Israel. The same entertainers who, in some cases, are supported or assisted by the City.
