Cramps, diarrhea, mood swings: Carolin Kebekus speaks openly about a topic she feels gets too little attention.
Comedian, writer and presenter Carolin Kebekus complained about society’s ignorance of menstrual cycle pain in women. This can take up a lot of space for the individual during menstruation.
“Actually, life as a woman is a lot of suffering, especially physical, which no one is interested in because everyone is used to us just surviving. Just like all generations of women before us,” said Kebekus in an interview with the German Press Agency.
The average woman has to experience this extraordinary physical condition about 450 times in her life and has to deal with cramps, irritability, diarrhea and mood swings, as the 45-year-old explains: However, this is not a big social problem.
Kebekus now wants to educate and talk about women’s health on her show. A related edition of the “Carolin Kebekus Show” can be seen on Thursday evening at 11:35 p.m. in Erste and ARD media libraries. Eva Karl Faltermeier was invited as a speaking guest. According to information, the cabaret artist suffers from endometriosis, one of the most common pelvic diseases in women.
Carolin Kebekus had her own WDR show called “PussyTerror TV” from 2015 to 2019. Since 2020 she has been a weekly guest on “The Carolin Kebekus Show” on the first show. He has been awarded the German Comedy Prize several times, among others. She mostly discusses feminist topics in her TV formats, on Instagram, and in her book publications, and she also campaigns against right-wing political forces. Their child was born in January 2024. Kebekus’ book “8000 Ways to Fail as a Mother” has just been published.
