Moussa Sangare31 year old man jailed on murder charges Sharon Verzeni stabbed on the night between 29 and 30 July 2024 in Terno d’Isola, was tried in court in Bergamo and, contrary to his previous confession, he denied any wrongdoing: “I was passing by on my bicycle – he said – and I saw Sharon arguing with a man. I understood that the affair would end badly and I didn’t want to get involved in this situation, I accelerated and left. Then I became paranoid that I had seen something I shouldn’t have seen, so I got rid of my clothes and the knife.”
“The police told me” was the prosecutor’s response when he was told he had confessed to the crime. Sangare stated that he was caught on camera as he passed by, but there was nothing that depicted him hitting the victim: “In my opinion, Terno is one who knows how to avoid cameras, I only confessed because I was stressed and I thought that this way they would let me go.”
As for traces of Sharon’s DNA mixed with his own, which were found on the bike he was riding that night, he replied: “It’s the only thing I can’t explain.” “My client did not say anything different from what he claimed in the last two hearings: he essentially claimed to be a witness to the facts. He confirmed in the courtroom what he has maintained for several months.” The lawyer explained this to journalists present outside the Bergamo court James Majlawyer Moussa Sangare.
“Despite having many opportunities, he did not want to apologize, but preferred to say that he was not the perpetrator. This makes us very sorry: we just want justice to be served because we have seen that he is not sorry and this hurts us very much.”
Those are the words of Bruno Verzenithe father of Sharon, the woman murdered last summer in Terno d’Isola, today left the Bergamo court, where the defendant Moussa Sangare withdrew his initial confession, stating that he was not the perpetrator of the woman’s murder. Sharon’s father seemed very disappointed with what happened in the courtroom.
