The National Assembly largely voted to “suspend” pension reform

The National Assembly on Wednesday largely approved the “suspension” of pension reform, a sine qua non condition for Sébastien Lecornu’s government being uncensored by socialists.

The measure, included in the draft Social Security budget for 2026, was approved by 255 votes to 146 with majority support from PS, environmentalists, RN, and abstention from Renaissance deputies. LFI and communist groups voted against, denouncing modest “slowness” in implementing symbolic reforms in Emmanuel Macron’s second five-year term.
