It is not easy to report on current events with informative rigor and at the same time give free rein to humour. Perhaps this is precisely what El Gran Wyoming thinks, who this Wednesday will receive the Ondas Award for best communicator, and Toni Clapés, who will receive the statuette as best radio program for his Rac1 versionwith more than twenty years on air. Both, among the other winners, will collect these awards at the gala which will be held at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, and which can be followed on Cadena SER from 8pm. This edition also wants to reward the great radio work carried out during the blackout of April 28: that day in which the radio demonstrated once again that it is an essential medium for citizens.
The gala of the 72nd edition of the Ondas Awards, references in the world of radio, television and national and international advertising, organized by Prisa and Radio Barcelona-Cadena SER, will be hosted by journalist Mara Torres, under the direction of Jordi Rosell. There will be performances by Pastora Soler and Viva Sweden, as well as moments of humor from Juan Carlos Ortega and Carolina Iglesias, host of Not so goodalong with his regular collaborators Laura Márquez and Charlie Pee. A total of 26 prizes will be awarded, chosen from 540 nominations submitted by 18 countries.
In the elegant lyrical temple of Barcelona, El Gran Wyoming, real name José Miguel Monzón, current presenter of The Intermediate to La Sexta, “for their good work, commitment and courage in giving continuity to one of the longest-running formats on television”. In the best program category, it will be Toni Clapés’ turn to receive the award Rac1 versionwhich has brightened the afternoons of many Catalans for more than twenty years, when it made its debut on Catalunya Ràdio, and then moved to the private Rac1.
Best known for his hit television show who knows wherebroadcast on TVE between 1992 and 1998, Paco Lobatón will receive the Ondas for lifetime achievement. The jury rewards “his long television career in front of the news, as a parliamentary correspondent and host of the program Who knows where, in which he developed a project of social utility starting from a space with a large audience and which he continues to develop over the years.”
Furthermore, among the winners stand out journalists such as Isaías Lafuente, who will be recognized with the Ondas award for the best professional work after 40 years of profession, currently in the SER program. Furthermore, in the musical field, the 2025 Ondas awards will recognize the career of Pastora Soler and will name Valeria Castro and Guitarricadelafuente musical phenomena of the year.
