The wrong pilot flew a scheduled flight for months

A man worked as a pilot for at least a year – even though he did not have the necessary qualifications. He could also have worked for a German company.

He is said to have traveled all over Europe: As reported by the news portal “Aero Telegraph”, which specializes in air traffic, a man flew many passengers as a flight captain for months – without having the necessary license.

Therefore, the man with the initials LAB never officially qualified as a co-pilot. But he got a job as a pilot for the Lithuanian airline Avion Express. In order to get the job, LAB is said to have falsified the documents.

Avion Express specializes in providing aircraft and crew to airlines on short notice. As the industry portal “Aero Telegraph” writes, this service is used by other airlines, especially in the high season. The airline’s fleet primarily includes Airbus A320s and A321s.

As “Mallorca-Zeitung” reports, Avion Express Malta branch will also cooperate with Eurowings. Eurowings is the leading airline in Mallorca.

Avion Express told Aero Telegraph that the defendant worked for them. A spokesperson said the company was aware of “unverified information about his professional experience.”

As a result, an internal investigation was initiated. At the same time, the airline emphasizes that its recruitment process complies with current guidelines.
