The plot was suspicious of Cerdán’s wife’s spending: “In El Corte Inglés everyone knows Paqui. Spend and spend. That’s enough for them” | Spain

That Tuesday, judge Leopoldo Puente revealed the secret of the summary of the case investigating the alleged corruption plot targeting the last two organizational secretaries of the PSOE, Santos Cerdán and José Luis Ábalos. Judge Puente relies on a new report from the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Guardia Civil which indicates that 75% of the profits of the Servinabar company – owned by Joseba Antxon Alonso and linked by investigators to Cerdán – came from Acciona. Consider that the company listed on Ibex-35 paid 2% to Antxon Alonso’s Navarre company for each work obtained irregularly. The Guardia Civil has identified at least three contracts.

On page 195 of this UCO report, the alleged knowledge that Cerdán’s wife, Francisca Muñoz Cano, said Paquiof the plot. The Guardia Civil identified a WhatsApp conversation between businessman Antxon Alonso and his wife Karmele Atutxa. The conversation dates back to September 9, 2021. It reveals “a certain concern”, as described by the armed institute, about the “excessive expenses” that Cerdán’s wife would have had to bear. This is the verbatim transcription. Karmele Atutxa speaks:

−La Paqui. That all the women of El Corte Inglés know her.

And he insists: “You spend and spend. And restaurants even on weekends and weekends. That’s enough for them. All the good, the best. It’s not a plan. And then they’re not discreet at all. You have to take it from your midst and speak to it clearly.” Antxon replies: “We agreed to stop it.”

This newspaper contacted Cerdán’s wife, but she did not respond to any questions. The Guardia Civil also underlines how the entrepreneur Antxon had saved Cerdán’s wife in the address book of his cell phone: “Paqui donna Santi”. What expenses are they referring to in this conversation? The UCO report speaks of expenses of 33,574 euros which would be linked to a credit card used by Cerdán and his wife. The first payment on this card was recorded on December 20, 2021 and was last used on February 19, 2024. The report describes a expenditure of 7,470 euros at the Sazadon restaurant, located just 170 meters from Cerdán and his wife’s home in Madrid. 1,795 euros during a trip to Ibiza. And, among others, 204 euros in a restaurant in Seville.
