The Spain that celebrated Franco’s death | Today at EL PAÍS: your daily podcast

The memory of the last blows of the dictatorship, the death of Francisco Franco and the first steps of democracy is still alive: half a century is a long time, but it is not enough for the memories to be erased. This “podcast” brings together the testimonies of three people who on November 20, 1975 desired freedom and fought for it on different fronts. I am Justa Montero, feminist activist from Complutense University; Rosa García Alcón, political prisoner in Yeserías prison; and Jordi Petit, a gay rights activist who served in the military in Cartagena. 50 years ago, for them, Spain was a party. One in which uncertainty has also crept in. This is a little oral memory of all this.
