They entered the family villa of former deputy Rocco Crimi and threatened his guardian with weapons. On Tuesday evening, in the center of Velletri, an armed gang with four criminals entered the house surrounded by a large garden and a very high fence and used as a second home by the former politician and his family. The robbers, with their faces hidden by balaclavas, wore gloves and were armed: they entered from the back of the large villa, or from the side street of Viale Oberdan, an artery leading to Via Salvo D’Acquisto and the nearby Via Appia Sud. Densely populated area with various commercial activities, but also buildings, other villas and several schools.
FLASH
Once inside the property, the robbers climbed onto the terrace and from there broke open the French doors to enter the house. The criminals may not have realized that inside the villa lived a forty-year-old guardian of African origin who found himself confronted by criminals who hit him with the butt of a gun, knocked him unconscious, and then forced him at gunpoint to reveal whether there was cash, a safe, and anything of value in the house. Upon a negative response from the security guard, the thieves will still look around and, after only stealing a few items that are not of high value (even if there is an ongoing investigation regarding this), they leave the property, always going out the back and fleeing in a car that is probably still parked in a hidden area on Viale Oberdan.
ALARM
At that moment the guard called for help and state police officers and members of the flying squad arrived on the scene, as well as a scientific team from Rome: the police spent several hours in the house taking measurements and looking for elements useful to identify the criminals, also through the analysis of the video cameras present in the area and in the villa. From the guards’ descriptions, some of the robbers spoke Italian while others had foreign accents. They certainly behaved like true professionals, clearly specializing in this type of break-in given the speed of the action and escape.
SAVIOR
A total of 118 medics were also at the scene and treating the guard who, despite having a head wound, refused to be taken to hospital. Last weekend, near Genzano, a robbery was carried out inside another villa in the Via dell’Aspro area and in that case the loot consisted of cash and valuables of around 20 thousand euros. In various Castelli Romani municipalities there have been reports of thefts from private villas and apartments, while in the last month a burnt-out Audi was also discovered in Via Tuscolana (in the Rocca Priora municipal area) probably used by one of the professional thieves’ gangs to carry out this type of theft. Also in Albano, state police found a car used by another gang to commit theft that night.
