Real estate prices have been rising in many areas for years. Anyone who still wants to get an offer now has good prospects in Saxony-Anhalt. A rare item will be for sale here in a few weeks.

In the town of Aschersleben with a population of 25,000, a former train station will be auctioned on December 18. This presents a rare opportunity: As a Deutsche Bahn (DB) spokesperson explained to the newspaper “Bild”, DB has not sold a single station building “for several years now.”

Instead, they have maintained the property since 2022 to help shape its use. After all, train stations are the calling card of cities and municipalities, which is why the company, together with those responsible at the site, developed a strategy to bring new life to the building, DB employees said.

The old train station at Aschersleben, about an hour from Magdeburg, is an exception. The building, which is no longer used by the railroad, has been privately owned for some time.

So far all attempts to resell the building have failed. Recently, the building and its approximately 1,300 square meters of area were offered for 39,000 euros. The starting bid at the December auction is now much lower at 19,000 euros.

In the vicinity of the train station “there is a primary school, a child care center and residential buildings,” according to Deutsche Vermögensauktionen AG in its current auction catalogue. The auction starts on December 18 at 12 noon. at the Mercure Hotel Moa Berlin.
