Freedom of speech, understanding, help… Wednesdays were created to raise awareness about sexual violence against minors. “We didn’t do this for no reason,” the game’s creator admitted to France Inter, amused by messages of thanks from people who played it.

On the occasion of International Children’s Rights Day on Thursday 20 November, video games Wednesdaywhich discusses sexual violence against minors, is available free until 9 p.m. Friday on PC and Mac, France Inter learns from one of the game’s creators.
Since its release in March, its creators have received dozens of testimonials. “We’ve had people tell us how this game motivated them to speak out for the first time.” explains the French Inter Pierre Corbinais, one of its creators. “Others told us they would be involved in the association” after playing it, the creative director said.
In the Wednesdaythe player embodies Timothée, a young man who immerses himself in the video games of his childhood, Orco Parkamusement park simulator. Each attraction built into the game allows him to find a memory and describe what happened to him, to then help him take steps to talk about it.
“The game was streamed and I could see the streamers realizing firsthand that they had been raped as children while playing the game,” testimony of Pierre Corbinais. “On the one hand it’s terrible to look at, and on the other hand there’s the power of witnessing it, it’s pretty crazy.”
Said the game’s creator “a little scared of people” contact them to ask “help”. “I was afraid we wouldn’t be able to help them. That didn’t happen, but I didn’t expect to receive messages from people thanking us. It made us realize that we’re not doing this for no reason.”
Free ideas are for “reach as many people as possible with Wednesday”continued Pierre Corbinais. “Our goal is to raise awareness about sexual violence against minors and incest.” The game is available on PC and Mac, on Steam and Itch.io platforms, until 9 p.m. Friday.
