“They indulge in sadistic pleasure”: Italy hunts down “weekend sniper” who killed civilians in Sarajevo

They are called “weekend snipers.” Rich people, ready to pay thousands of euros to kill men, women and children during the siege of Sarajevo, were led by Bosnian Serbs in the early 1990s. Three decades later, Italy hopes to unmask some of these snipers.

According to the daily La Repubblica, the Milan prosecutor’s office “is trying to identify Italian citizens who, between 1993 and 1995, paid to fight and kill defenseless civilians for fun.” An investigation was opened against X for “intentional and aggravated murder.”
